Hilton Garden Inn
The concept for this brief is a imagined as greenhouse setting that evokes the romance of an urban oasis, complete with lush landscape surrounds and botanical motifs. The use of muted colours from olive greens and soft blues to burnt oranges, yellows and natural timber mimics a walk through a park, with alternating patches o f shade and openness. The interior is imagined as a green oasis brimming with plants and is reminiscent of long evenings spent outdoors with friends and family.
As the nostalgic mood drives our optimism we propose bringing in the sinuous and sensuous, linear and often vigorous with organic forms and nature at its heart , all elements that characterizes the Art Nouveau that was prevalent in Paris from 1850’s to the 1920’s. Words like sinuous, tendrils entwined and flowing are commonly used when describing the style. Use of modern materials particularly iron, glass and ceramics were the other characteristics of this style and are used throughout the hotel as referencing back to the French influence in Cameroon.
